VIDEO 6. Ipsilateral-kontralateral extremity ROM exercises while sitting position with metronome

It refers to these joint range of motion exercises performed with a metronome. Such exercises can be applied to neurologically elderly individuals, but should be customized taking into account the individual’s health status and individual needs.

Since the use of a metronome makes it easier to move in a certain rhythm and tempo, moving with a metronome in these exercises can increase the individual’s coordination and make movements more regular.

Whether exercises are performed ipsilateral or contralateral depends on the individual’s specific health status, goals, and physical abilities. The physiotherapist creates an exercise program that suits the individual’s needs.

Ipsilateral Exercises: Ipsilateral exercises refer to exercises in which both body sides work simultaneously. An example is when the right or left upper and lower extremities perform a certain movement at the same time.

Contralateral Exercises: In contralateral exercises, the movement of one side is coordinated with the movement of the other side. Completing a movement with the left leg while the right arm moves is an example of contralateral exercises.
