VIDEO 12. Mini-Mental Test
The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) is a standardized measure used to assess an individual’s cognitive status. This test is commonly employed to detect cognitive impairments, monitor mental disorders, and identify changes in cognitive function, particularly prevalent in the elderly population. The MMSE evaluates performance in various cognitive domains such as memory, attention, language, calculation skills, and spatial abilities. The administration of the Mini-Mental State Examination typically takes 5 to 10 minutes. The scoring of the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) usually falls within a range of 30 points, with higher scores indicating better cognitive function. However, it is important to note that the MMSE alone is not sufficient for a dementia diagnosis. Other tests and a comprehensive assessment are often required.
