VIDEO 4.  Chair squats

The chair squat exercise can be utilized in neurogeriatric individuals. Neurological diseases such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, or multiple sclerosis, as well as aging, may result in difficulties in muscle control, balance, and coordination. Therefore, exercises like the chair squat should be modified to suit the individual’s specific needs and physical condition.

Depending on the individual’s physical fitness, it is important to start with a lower number of controlled chair squats initially. During this exercise, the individual should be supported and kept safe by a support aid, balance bar, or supervised by a physiotherapist.

If it is not possible to perform a full squat, a more limited range of motion can be used.
