Reading material on improving patient communication
The assessment of breathing patterns and the evaluation of the diaphragm’s position and related structures require manual contact (physical touch) by a physiotherapist in the areas of the neck, chest, and abdomen. The application of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in both women and men, as well as individuals with excess weight, necessitates adherence to boundaries in physical contact. The examination of specific therapy areas is performed with the patient undressed. In some cultural contexts, this may not be accepted, significantly complicating the diagnostic and therapeutic process.
