Video materials on improving communication with patients, cross-cultural aspect.
Here, on short films, people with intellectual disabilities will be shown, who take turns performing
tests assessing individual components of physical fitness. People will be selected to show diversity,
they will be of different ages, genders, with different degrees of disability and at different levels of
communication and signalling their needs
The voice will discuss how the test is performed and how to interpret. Test descriptions, which are
included here together with additional figures or photos (these can be still from the film) will be
available in the manual. Several additional tests will also be available there.

Introduction
VIDEO 2
Standing broad jump test (explosive leg strength)
A long jump test from a standing position with both legs assesses the explosive strength of the lower limbs.
The examined person stands barefoot in front of the marked reflection line. Then he/she does a squat with a swing of the arms back and a jump as far as possible with an arm swing forward. After landing, the subject
should maintain his balance. Two test jumps and two measured jumps are made. The distance from the starting line to the point of contact between the back edge of the heel and the ground is measured. If the heels of
the feet are not at the same level, the distance is measured from the point closer to the starting line. The measurement is made with an accuracy of 1 cm.
VIDEO 3
Sit Up Test (the strength of the abdominal muscles and hip flexors)
VIDEO 4
Sit and reach test (flexibility)
The Straight Sit and reach forward bend test is used to assess flexibility.
The flexibility measurement is carried out using a measuring table with a scaled top. The result is read with an accuracy of 1 cm. The test consists of bending the torso and slowly moving the fingers as far along the bench as possible, while keeping the lower limbs straight.
The result is recorded when the stationary farthest position is taken. The test is performed barefoot. The first bend is a trial bend, the second, performed after a short break – measured.
The result is the length of the bend measured in cm.
VIDEO 5
Pushing a 2 kg ball test (arm strength and coordination)
VIDEO 6
Single Leg Stance test; SLS (static balance)
VIDEO 7
Functional Reach Test; FRT (dynamic balance, the risk of falls)
VIDEO 8
Handgrip Strength Test (the maximum grip force of the hand)

6-minute walk test
