VIDEO 15. Summary

It is important to know good posture in terms of movement analysis, the non-structural postural disorders in the sagittal plane that contribute to posture, and the postural disorders that can be seen in lateral evaluation. Information about the adolescent’s lifestyle (daily activity time, activities at school and at home, screen time, internet use) should be obtained by asking both him and his/her family and guidance counselor. The presence of any discomfort in the adolescent is also questioned. A good sagittal plane evaluation and awareness of the presence of abnormal postural posture are important for the physiotherapist. Additionally, it is useful to have information about the types of exercises available for postural correctness.

In summary, let’s look at what should be taken into consideration during the evaluation of the spinal alignment of an adolescent individual.

1-When evaluating in the sagittal plane, the reference points to be looked at and which posture corresponds to which postural disorder should be known.

2-Distinction between adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, which is common in focal group adolescents

3- Information should be obtained from the adolescent himself and his/her environment about his/her physical activities.

4- It is important to prepare the adolescent for the evaluation program and encourage him/her to engage in appropriate physical activities.
