Video 12 Shoulder dyskinesis / Scapular Assistance Test (SAT)
This test indicates weakness of the scapula stabilizers. To perform the test, the patient is in a standing position, the examiner is behind him and fixes the clavicle and scapula with one hand, while the other hand grasps the lower angle of the scapula. The patient then raises the arm forward or to the side while the examiner supports the movement of the scapula.
The SAT test is positive if the patient feels less pain with the assisted empty can than with the unassisted empty can.
