Adolescence period; It is the transition period from childhood to adult life in which physical growth, sexual development and psychosocial maturation occur. This period is one of the most important stages in human development. Adolescent individuals face some problems specific to this period [11].

The factors that cause these to occur are; Reasons such as being in the process of identity formation, acceleration in cognitive development, increased emotional intensity, career choice, establishing relationships with the opposite sex, separation from parents and individualization can be given. Approximately 1.8 billion of the world’s population are in adolescence young people (United Nations Population Fund [UNFPA], 2020).

Although most of these young people are healthy, a significant number of them suffer from serious and even fatal diseases or various problems [11]. Risky behaviours in young people are a major public health concern, given their impact on adolescents’ mental health and well-being [12]. In order to prevent psychopathology and diseases and support healthy development, it is very important to be able to predict which individuals will follow a successful path and which individuals will face important problems in this period. In this period when psychosocial problems and risk-taking behaviors are seen much more frequently than in other periods of life, protecting and improving the health of adolescents, preventing risky behaviours that may negatively affect their lives and well-being, and strengthening their abilities, skills and capacities in combating these behaviors will protect both the physical and psychosocial health of adolescents. It is of great importance in protection and development.

Children are our future and treatment decisions must reflect the fact that children are not young adults and prevention must be a crucial aspect of their care. Adolescence is a period of fluctuating and rapidly changing interests and desires and many characteristics specific to this age. While adolescent psychology focuses on issues specific to adolescents, the branch of adolescent medicine addresses the health and wellness of adolescents, young adults, and their families. Psychological aspects are very important in adolescents and many aspects are preventive in nature. This process involves shifting and sharing responsibility between parent and adolescent, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and shared decision-making to achieve treatment goals.

Spinal misalignments that progress to the point of treatment often cause visible deformity during adolescence and adolescence. Living with spinal misalignment has a distinct psychosocial component, as body image is a critical factor for self-identity during these years of youth development. For this reason, it is necessary to examine the situation psychologically and socially along with the physical evaluation of spinal misalignment in the individual. If all these evaluations are made by a multidisciplinary team in cooperation with the adolescent and family, more beneficial results will be obtained for the adolescent.
