Intended effects leading to the improvement of movement analysis and therapy

You will learn how to assess motor skills using easy-to-implement tests. You will also learn how to analyse and interpret the test results.

The tests can be adapted for younger and older children based on the expected skills and developmental milestones at each age. Additionally, they allow for retesting after a developmental program, where appropriate.

Learning to conduct, analyze, and interpret tests will be covered in three blocks/chapters. These chapters will assess various aspects of the child’s motor skills using a variety of tests (e.g., Folding paper strips, Finger-foot synchronized movement test, Pediatric Balance Scale). The tests will progress from those requiring precise movements to those that involve gross motor skills.

You will also learn how to use a validated questionnaire for parents, the Developmental Coordination Disorder Questionnaire 2007 (DCDQ’07), to assess motor skills in everyday situations.

Finally, you will find out about other available tests, test packages/toolkits that combine different aspects of motor skills (e.g., MABC-2, BOT-2), and questionnaires parents can use to record the child’s daily activities and development (e.g., Ages and Stages Questionnaire 3rd edition).
