Intended effects leading to improving communication with the patient

In this module, the importance of an interprofessional communication between a physiotherapist and a nurse in assessing geriatric client’s functional ability to live at home independently will be discussed in theory and the example will be shown on the videos.  

A client should always participate in the discussion between a physiotherapist and a home care nurse. The ability to communicate with the client in a culture-sensitive way will be discussed in the theory.  The health care professionals bring up the cross-cultural aspect with their backgrounds: the nurse is a non-Finnish, and the physiotherapist is a Finnish person. This may affect interprofessional communication and the interaction between the professional and the client.
