Another case description with results of psychomotor assessment. Student practices to make conclusions.

Patient case:

Posture is characteristically extended, active and rigid. The chest is in an inspiratory position. Breathing lacks relaxation in the expiratory phase. with little versatility. The body is generally stiff with reduced mobility. The patient lacks the ability to allow passive movements. The head and shoulders are actively and constantly held in position without the patient being aware of it. The patient has general poor body awareness.

Conclusion:

Each of these clinical findings indicates control. Taken together they indicate an extremely strong physical defence barrier. All the findings tell us that patient keeps feelings at a distance by “pulling himself together”. The findings are so widespread, pronounced and fixed that we can say with certainty that they are of a long term nature, related to personality characteristics rather than to an acute “stress situation”.
