Comments on the ergonomics of the physiotherapist’s work and suggestions on cooperation with other members of the therapeutic team and people from the patient’s close environment (family, friends)

When working with a rebellious and introverted adolescent who has been recognized by his/her family as having a spinal misalignment problem and has been reluctantly brought to treatment, imagine that you want to achieve the following goals:

• Make the adolescent, family and guidance teacher understand what the spinal defect is, and what rehabilitation approaches will be used

• Reduce adolescent self-esteem problems and negative emotions

• Give the adolescent a sense of trust and make comfortable environment in examination and therapy sessions

• Give motivation and make enjoyable sessions

• Make comfortable environment in examination and therapy sessions

Below are the types of interventions you may benefit from. Try to match them with the goals presented above:

• Education

• Conversation (with and without family)

• Using verbal biofeedback (appreciation, treatment feedback by emphasizing physically improvements)

• Help with social support (e.g.,family, friends, teachers)

• Arrangement of the rehabilitation space (e.g., group exercises with peers)

• Breathing exercises

• Suggestion of psychological consultation
