A goal leading to improving communication with the patient, cross-cultural aspect

The patient-therapist interaction significantly influences patients’ coping strategies concerning their environmental and social circumstances. Physiotherapists’ attitudes wield considerable influence in this dynamic. For instance, an excessive focus on pain without fostering patient independence may detrimentally impact the treatment trajectory. Also, low back pain due to lack of exercise, weight gained during pregnancy and growing uterus, fatigue in the muscles as a result of the lengthening of the abdominal and gluteal muscles, decreased blood flow to the pelvis and lumbar region due to the pressure of the uterus on the vena cava, and psychological and emotional changes and lack of family support can decrease quality of life expectation with severe pain for pregnant. Considering all these changes and processes, it may not be easy to ensure communication with the pregnant woman and her participation in rehabilitation. Also, these symptoms may be different in cross-cultures. The aim is to show what can help you to communicate with a pregnant woman with low back pain, taking into account her family, social environment and circumstances.
