A goal leading to improving communication with the patient, cross-cultural aspect
In the process of teaching specific functional tests and exercises for core stability, there is often a need for hands-on contact between the client/patient and the physiotherapist.
The goal of this lesson is to become aware of potential cross-cultural differences that need to be considered when conducting diagnostic functional tests on clients/patients. You’ll learn how to prepare the client/patient for the necessity of exposing specific body areas and undergoing palpation by the physiotherapist, as well as how to establish boundaries for physical contact in client-patient – physiotherapist relationships. This lesson also aims to familiarize you with potential pain reactions and disturbances in motor control among athletes/patients.
