A goal leading to improving communication with the patient, cross-cultural aspect
The dynamic development of science cites a number of studies indicating the existence of connections between tissues. Different authors, present the aforementioned connections in different ways. It seems that the foot being the first of the links in the bio-kinematic chain of the lower limb may be of crucial importance. Studies indicate that the presence of abnormalities in the foot (deformities in the foot as well as the experience of trauma) may be associated with earlier degenerative changes, pain, changes in posture, but also with a reduction in the broader quality of life.
The purpose of the training is to present one of the possible connections between the foot and the entire lower limb, as well as to convince the student that it is right to undertake physiotherapy (if possible) and, if necessary, to use the help of other specialists. An additional purpose of this lesson is also to familiarize the student with the possibilities of communicating uncomfortable information, with examples of the patient’s reactions to the news related to the problem, and with the difficulties that the physiotherapist may encounter in the course of therapy.
